Integer Operations

Integer operations include addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.



First off I'll show you some vocab.







Vocab: integer- is a set of whole numbers and there opposite.



opposite: is the complete different thing. Ex: 3 the opposite is -3







Rules:Rules for ADDITION are if the signs are the same then add and keep the same.If the signs are different, then subtract and keep the sign of the bigger number.
5+6=11
5+-6=-1





Rules for SUBTRACTION are change it to addition by doing plus the opposite of the 2nd number.


Ex:3-(-6)=9 because you make it 3+(+6)=9
Ex:-3-6=-9 because you make it -3+(-6)=-9







Rules for MULTIPLICATION are if the signs are the same then multiply and make it a positive. if the signs are different then multiply and make it a negative.


Ex:-3 times -3=6


Ex:-3 times 3=-6





Rules for DIVISION are if the signs are the same then divide and make it a positive and if there different then divide and make it a negative.





Ex:-21 divided by -7=3


Ex:-21 divided by 7=-3
